How to Know Yourself – Find Your Ideal Job is a question which most of us always wonder!
Know Yourself
Self-awareness is part of our career development plan that we must do before graduation. Take advantage of the test, filter to share some reading that I think young people, especially those who are college students, can refer.
Self-Understanding is what makes us aware of our strengths, weaknesses, beliefs, interests, emotions, and motivations. Many studies show that when we know ourselves. We will be more confident and creative. We will make better decisions, have better relationships, and communicate more effectively. While doing my homework, I also found a lot of research materials that showed that understanding myself is an essential part of the personal career development planning process. By taking this stepwell, we can be optimistic that we will have a successful career.
You cannot know yourself until youtake the time to be still. Many people don’t know themselves because any silence scares them. It is too uncomfortable to be alone with every flaw staring back at them. But it is not until you get alone, evaluate yourself and are completely truthful with yourself that you will be able to see every facet of your life—the good and the bad. Be quiet and discover your true self.
How can you discover what you are genuinely passionate about?
It is all well and good to tackle your goals with enthusiasm and to take steps to achieve your dream job, but what if you are not sure what that might be? It is easy to feel confused about what you are meant to be doing, and what occupation may be the best fit for your interests. So, how can you start honing in on that one specific goal that can light your passion?
Does the problem lie in how to know yourself and find your ideal job? Here are some ways I think you can try.
Try out many different types of jobs
To support us in an effective personal development plan, our school has a mentor for each of us. My mentor is a PR expert with nearly twenty years of experience in Public Affairs (PA – a branch of PR). He shared that before deciding to stick with PA, he tried many different areas such as Consumer PR, Internal Communications, Media Relations …
He said one thing that he felt was right, that when we were young, we had more opportunities to try and be wrong. Short internships and summer part-time work during college is an opportunity for us to experience different jobs and know what we want to do. One more piece of advice from him I want to share, no matter what you do a month or two, do your best. That way you can understand whether you are suitable for it or not, and later you will not regret it.
Learn more new things
In addition to doing, while learning, we also understand a lot more about ourselves. Give yourself new skills, whether it’s drawing, dancing, coding, meditation. I used to sign up for dance lessons, buy a ton of supplies to learn how to draw, spend a week to learn to code, hop hard to take a bus to learn Chinese. And, I have free time to discover hundreds of other “nonsense” things. In general, I still dance very disgustingly, but I always draw worms. At least, I know that I have tried it and realized. I do not have the artistic talent as I thought. But in return, I have another way to express this art, writing, and design. If I didn’t learn to write, didn’t learn to design, how would I know, I could do it and love to do it that much.
There are many websites online that offer free courses. Currently, I often study on FutureLearn, Skillshare, Coursera. You can find more lots of different options. You want to learn only.
Take personality tests
You know, personalities are things that can change over time and according to our wishes. I want to write into a separate article because I read quite a lot of material on this topic and found it super cool. Like, so this article won’t say much. But our job is still to understand our personality. This way is a complicated task, but scientists have created tools to make this easier. I will list here some personality tests that I have passed and found the results entirely accurate.
www.16personalities.com/personality-types – 16 personalities
In addition to showing that you are introverted or extroverted. It also points out the strengths and weaknesses of your personality, characteristics of social relationships. And, you may love many relationships, your career path, and specific, especially suggestions for jobs that your character will match. Have you all done this exercise?
www.roguecc.edu/Counseling/HollandCodes/test.asp – Holland Codes (RIASEC)
This has many different pages that offer the test, but I do on this page. You choose how adjectives, verbs describe the actions that are most similar to you. Then, the test will give the results to see your score corresponding to each code. It can be Realistic (R), Investigative (I), Artistic ( A), Social (S), Enterprising (E), Conventional (C). Two or three codes with a higher score will make up your Holland code. For example, the last time I made Holland Codes my code was IRA (indeed, I’m not an artist at all).
You can find on this page as well as many other pages decoding of each code or career suggestions for each system. Some universities in Europe and the US also use Holland codes in catalogs to introduce their courses. For example, the Digital Innovation course will work with which code you have, and the Media and Communications course will suit you for which code.
www.viacharacter.org/www/Character-Strengths – 24 strong points in personality
This test is also free. There will be many questions to answer, generally speaking, every test requires a lot of patience. And the result will show which character is the strongest and the most outstanding among your 24 personalities. These 24 personalities are divided into Wisdom, Courage, Humanity, Justice, Temperance, and Transcendence. The last time he showed his most outstanding character was Kindness in the Humanity group. In general, there is a slight, slight error here because I feel that I am not very kind.
Self-reflection
I think the word “self-criticism” is not what I meant to say, but please forgive my limited vocabulary. I mean every day we should take some time to think about ourselves. Many articles put meditation on how to know yourself better. I may not understand meditation very well, but I think meditation helps you relax, focus on your breathing to forget everything, and then wake up. But in meditation, we don’t think about anything, including ourselves.
To “reflect on” yourself, you can write down on paper, or take a walk and think in your head. You can give up anger or anxiety to calmly think about what is essential to yourself and whether you have ABC or XYZ. After attending presentations in the office, returning home, I just lay looking at the ceiling and thinking about what I did, good yet, what else I could do. After all, when I thought about it, I found myself even worse and had to try harder. Come on come on.
Ask others for suggestions
While studying, we were introduced to a theory to understand ourselves quite well — a bit like SWOT in that it also draws four cells. But the axes are tied with different information, talking about your level of awareness of your personalities and abilities. There are possibilities you, both you and others know. There are possibilities you have, only you that others don’t know. And vice versa, there are abilities or personality that you have, but only others can see, and you do not. These points are called “blind spots.”
To look at these points, we need genuine input from others. But to get honest feedback, we identify ideas from the beginning. Simply because all of us like to be praised, and no one wants to be criticized. This way is very reasonable. But if the criticism is right for us to develop, we still have to listen and listen. Ask your friends, ask your boss, ask your parents. If you get an honest answer, don’t be mad at people, they want to be right for you.
I often ask my friend and my brother about my decisions. Many times, they criticized as being evil, choosing poorly. At those times, I used to be startled and tell them they were crazy, and I pretended I did not care. But when I came home at night, I brought some things they said to look for them and slowly fix them. I have to get better in silence for them to wait for you guys.
Assess your relationships
A significant aspect of knowing yourself can be found in your relationships. When you realize you will never honestly know anyone else until you know yourself, the importance of knowing yourself becomes even more apparent. This truth rings true for business leaders, because if you do not know the people on your team, then you may be lost as a leader. But, this rule applies to any relationship in your life. Almost as much as you need to understand yourself, other people also need to understand who you are. People need you—the real you.
Should use your reflections to fight your biggest fears.
When you know who you are meant to be, your purpose will finally become more important than your concerns. When you realize who you are, you might spend less time spinning your wheels. You need to focus on your strengths gives you the required traction to begin making a bigger and better difference in the world. When you understand yourself, you will find more peace, and you will gain success quicker than ever before.
After writing this article, I realized that I was inspired to write more articles about changing personalities and programming the career path in a non-programming way. Please wait for your homework and continue reading the document and continue writing.
