So that it is in top priority to keep children safe at school, in any age of your kids.
Make sure the school has safety policies
The parent should understand that school policies have a main role to keep discipline for children in school. The parent can keep children safe by finding out whether the school has any method to deal with violence, bullying or disaster or not.
Moreover, the parent should ask if the school has visitors policy to avoid strangers going on school grounds or in the classroom. And does the school have a policy for children bullying or teacher using violence to kids?
Teach your kids right attitudes
The elementary school aging is where the children can find friends for them and interact with other children. Parents may think the school will teach children everything. But parents should guide and give kids advice about which are the right attitudes to teacher and friends. Teach your kids to respect classmates because the good way to gain respect is to give respect. Make your children understand that kindness and respect can create a peaceful atmosphere in class. Not being arrogant and disrespectful to classmates and teachers in any case.
Keep children safe by survival skills
It is important for everyone especially kids know how to react to emergency problems like fire, bullying or kidnap. When children face with confusion, they usually result in panic, so remind your children these tips to come over problems.
Report to the teacher or the supervisor of the kids immediately if there is fighting or sign of disaster like a fire.
Report to the teacher if there is bullying in class for right away action from the adult.
If there is a fire alarm, be calm down and listen to the instruction of the teacher to go to the exit way out of the school.
If there is an earthquake, find a table as a shelter and don’t run around because anything can fall to them.
Encourage children to have an open conversation
The parent should maintain good communication with your child to help build self-esteem and mutual respect. Children need to live in a safe environment at home that emphasizes open and honest conversation. When you give praise to your child’s accomplishments and encourage emotional responses, they will have a tendency to open up about their dreams, struggles, fears, or concerns.
If your child is a victim of a bullying or body shaming, they can be scared of telling to you. You can notice signs if your child becomes quiet after coming back from school or lose attention to anything at home. In more severe case, scar, black and blue can be in the child’s body making an alarm that they may have trouble in school.
