As we have known, most activities are better with your four-legged friend. It is as important as choosing a good food for your dog. And, chances are, your puppy is also bubbling with excitement to get moving with you. That’s why we give you some guidelines on how to exercise your dog to enrich his or her life and health.
Exercise Your Dog Indoor
Play tug and fetch. One of the most significant indoor activities is tug-of-war. Firstly, buy a rope toy with knotted ends. Throw the rope and let your dog bring it back. While your dog keeps the string in its mouth, tug at the line until your dog lets go. Then, throw it again. You can play this game in the garage or a long hallway.
Use food puzzles. Food puzzles include Kong-type toys or “busy boxes,” are a fantastic way for your dog to release pent up energy indoors. They provide both physical and mental exercise, as well.
Make your dog do exercise on a treadmill. You can use a treadmill to exercise your dog indoors when the weather outside doesn’t permit activity. To begin, acclimate the dog to the treadmill by letting your dog sniff the treadmill. Then you can give your dog a treat for good behavior. When your dog is comfortable with the treadmill, help your dog to get on it. Begin with a low setting, and next to the higher level after that.
Work Out with Your Dog Outdoor
Play fetch. You can use a toy that your dog likes and use it to exercise your dog. With some dogs, it could be a ball, but for others, it could be a plush toy. Firstly, let your dog sniff and mouth the toy then place the toy on the ground. Next, encourage your puppy to pick up it. Finally, put your hand under the toy in the dog’s mouth and wait for it to drop the toy in your hand. Remember to reward your dog for the right behavior.
Take your puppy to the dog park. Dog parks which have shallow pools for your tiny friend to wade in are extra great. At the dog park, your dog can easily run around and even meet and play with other dogs. That’s a best place to exercise your dog outdoor.
Walk with your dog. In general, you should walk adult dogs for at least thirty minutes a day. However, the actual time you should spend walking your dog can vary, and it is dependent on your dog’s breed, age, and size. When walking with your dog, remember not to let your dog walk in front of you. You must establish that you are the pack leader by stepping in front of your dog.
Run with your dog. Running is an excellent way for both of you and your dog to get daily exercise. Then you can gradually increase the duration and intensity of the run over a few weeks. Remember to be consistent! So that you should make it a daily exercise, and not just a weekly, exercise routine. This activity will enable your dog or even you to build up its stamina gradually.
Remember that exercise your dog is not only beneficial for the mind and body of your pet but also you!
